Hi there! I’m Jess. Welcome to Knead Your Love – my place to share recipes and stories as I take my journey from “cereal and take-out food junky” to learning to cook and bake my own food from scratch. I’ll be writing about my adventures in baking and in figuring out how to make tasty-good-for-you meals. I hope you enjoy my stories and recipes.
What is Knead Your Love and What Will You Find Here?
Knead Your Love is a food blog devoted to cooking your own food, baking from scratch, knowing what’s in your food, and eating well.
First, you will find recipes from my family and friends, recipes adapted from websites and cookbooks, and original recipes that I develop myself. You are sure to find lots of recipes for goodies, like cake, cookies, and muffins, because I already know that I’m pretty good at making that stuff. And I figure, if you’re gonna eat sweets and goodies, then you might as well make them from scratch (no weird chemicals that I can’t pronounce). And I’ll also share recipes for simple, tasty meals made with healthy ingredients (and tips on things like how to get more fruits and veggies into your diet).
Second, you will find my stories about venturing deeper and deeper into the wonderful world of cooking and baking from scratch (and all of the perplexing and surprising things I find there).
Third, you will find my take on current food news and policies. I’ll write about things like the latest franken-fish stories, my concerns about potentially having our chicken processed in China, and why I think food should be labeled if it contains GMO ingredients in case people want to avoid that stuff.
Fourth, you will find my thoughts on life and all the funny, unexpected things that happen. And, while I’m at it, I’m sure I will post my favorite pictures like this one that I took in my neighborhood a while back. It looks so ominous. And some of the other pictures you see on this page were taken on various adventures in hiking and at the zoo. I never go anywhere without taking some pictures.
I decided to start a food blog because it combines three things that I love to do: baking, writing, and photography. And did I mention the food props?! What fun! I just couldn’t resist.
Knead Your Love, created in May 2014, is dedicated to my lovely and sweet niece, Olivia, who was born about 5 weeks before this blog was launched. As she grows up, I hope to give her the gift of baking. And whenever she sees me, I will always come prepared with goodies baked with love. 🙂
A Little About me:
I am a social scientist, researcher, and writer excited about branching out into new interests and destinations. I love to eat (I’m half Italian, what do you want?!) and I love to bake.
I’ve dabbled in pottery and took a beginner’s photography class at the Smithsonian in DC (but, otherwise, I am a novice photographer). I love running, yoga, kayaking, and the great outdoors.
I spend my free time doing fun stuff with my boyfriend, going out to eat with friends, baking goodies, and now taking trips to visit my sweet, little baby niece. Life is good. And I look forward to seeing where my adventures in baking, cooking my own food, and blogging take me. All opinions on this blog are my own.
