There’s something special about starting a new year. I’m not sure what it is. When John and I were watching the ball drop on TV on New Year’s Eve, I asked him why we make such a big deal about starting a new year. It’s kind of funny when you think about it. There are world-wide celebrations. It’s a national holiday. But, it is just the passing of another day. What’s the big deal? Why is it so special? He said it is tradition. And, I agree. It is a wonderful tradition.
But, there’s something else to it. It’s like having a clean slate, a fresh start. It’s a time for reflection and for planning what comes next. It is a time to appreciate all of the good things in life. All of this thinking about the new year inspired me to reflect on (or some might say ramble on a bit, heh heh) about this past year and look forward to good things to come. In keeping with my reflective mood and thinking back about all the fun I’ve had, I posted some of my favorite food blog photos from this past year.
I started KneadYourLove last Spring with lots of enthusiasm, optimism, and excitement. KneadYourLove still has a ways to go, but I am very proud of my little creation. I figured out how to do everything myself. I have enjoyed it immensely. Sometimes, I must admit it that feels like I am writing, baking, and taking pictures just for me. Hellooooo, is anybody out there? 🙂 But, it is worth it. It makes me happy to be a food blogger!
There is still much to do to make this blog even better. There are lots of areas to build on and improvements to make. I started the blog before I was ready and I’m learning as I go. Isn’t that how anything of real consequence happens in life? You just throw yourself in, do your best, and see where it takes you.
2014 was a great year. It didn’t just mark the beginning of KneadYourLove; lots of other wonderful things happened. My beautiful niece was born. At 9 months old, she’s adorable, fearless, strong, affectionate, curious, and silly. It’s fun to watch her try new things and become her own little person. She’s so brave! It was a year filled with great adventures with John and his kids. From Long Beach Island to New York City to local adventures in the DMV area, we had a year filled with laughter and fun times together. My mom moved closer and has her own set of exciting adventures ahead of her. It’s fun to have her close by and to watch her build a new life.
And, last year brought some big changes (and sometimes challenges) for my closest friends–cross-country moves, new houses, weddings, new jobs, promotions. Even positive change is not always easy. There were definitely some nail-bitters and uncertain moments for us all. Sometimes, you just gotta have faith that everything will work out as it should. It always does.
I am excited to see what this next year brings for all of us and for KneadYourLove. I can’t wait to jump back in and make it an even better food blog this year. I hope more people join me on the journey. And I hope that my posts are entertaining and interesting, offer useful information, or just make people smile once in a while. I get giddy when people post comments. It’s so much fun!
I look forward to another year of blogging and baking with love for my family and friends. And to another year of eating real food, home-cooking, and baking from scratch. Wishing everyone a healthy and Happy New Year and all the best! What are you looking forward to in the next year? Post a comment and I’ll get all giddy! xoxo 🙂
